Flanges are used as sealing and fastening connectors, also known as special-shaped flanges. It is widely used in large containers in aerospace, petroleum, chemical and other fields. Although the problem of processing capacity is not considered, for special-shaped flanges, due to their large size, the overall processing of special-shaped flanges is impossible only due to transportation reasons, and must be processed separately.

Usually, the special-shaped flange is always divided into several arc segments for processing. First, the blank is forged into a square billet, then cold-bent into an arc segment, after annealing and stress-relief heat treatment, it is assembled into a full circle and processed on a vertical lathe to the designed shape and size, and finally transported to the construction site, and then several arc segments are assembled. Welded into a complete special-shaped flange and welded with the pressure vessel.
Since the nominal diameter of the container cylinder of the special-shaped flange and the nominal diameter of the pipe represent different specific dimensions, the container flange and pipe flange of the same nominal diameter have different sizes, and the two cannot be substituted for each other.
